HISTORY

The early baju kurung is more longer and looser, unsuited with the figure of women. After that, baju kurung being popularised in the late 19th century by Sultan Abu Bakar, Sultan Johor. Baju kurung has been famous or popular since the islamation in the year of 1970s and 1980s.

Baju melayu has been exist in this world since 15th century. The first person that wear and popularized  this baju melayu in 15th century is Tun Hassan Temenggung. He is the son of Bendahara Seri Maharaja Tun Mutahir. Baju melayu’s style has been exist since 15th century. The original style of baju melayu is Baju Melayu Cekak Musang and Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga.  Melaka is one of the entreport trade. Therefore, many foreigners come here. They also brought their own fashion syles. This eventually influenced Malay’s attire, which combined the fitting styles (robes) of Arabs and Indians, trousers and pants of the Mongols and Turks, with the elegance of Europeans and Baju Melayu is created.
